Middlesbrough boss Tony Mowbray was celebrating a job well-done following a 3-1 victory against Preston North End in the Capital One Cup third round.

Emmanuel Ledesma, Merouane Zemmama and Richie Smallwood were each on target for the visitors as they won for the third successive time in the competition on their travels.

Mowbray reported that several players were earlier late in arriving at Rockliffe Park as the weather continued to cause havoc on the roads, while Argentinian pair Ledesma and Julio Arca had been forced to make their own way across the Pennines.

“For long spells we were good tonight, we controlled the game and got our just rewards,” Mowbray told Boro’s official website. “We got the job done and we could have scored a few more goals when we were breaking away. I’m pleased with them all, they all applied themselves.”
