Middlesbrough midfielder Nicky Bailey says there is absolutely no chance of his side taking non-league Hastings United too lightly at the weekend.

The Teessiders host the lowest-ranked club left in the competition in the FA Cup third round on Saturday afternoon, hoping to continue their impressive form in the knockout competitions this season after already reaching the quarter-finals of the League Cup until losing in unfortunate fashion at Premier League Swansea City.

However, Bailey can already vividly recall being a member of the Boro side shocked by Burton Albion a couple of years ago and certainly wants to avoid a repeat at the hands of their Ryman Premier League visitors.

“A couple of years ago we played Burton and they did us on their patch,” Bailey told the Northern Echo. “We know we’re going to have to be 100 per cent and whoever gets the jersey has to go out there and put things right.

“We can go out there, score a few goals and get the confidence back,” he continued. “We’ve been leaking a few too many of late but hopefully we can get a clean sheet and score a few goals.”
