Middlesbrough head coach Aitor Karanka believes it was a “good point” taken by his side following a 1-1 draw with West Bromwich Albion at the Riverside.

The Teessiders trailed early when their former player James Morrison opened the scoring, although that was soon cancelled out by Alvaro Negredo’s seventeenth-minute penalty.

“It was a good point,” Karanka told BBC Sport. “We had chances to score and have conceded a goal in a way we knew. It is frustrating.

“I am proud of the players. As a coach, they have done everything,” he reasoned. “We had the game under control against a strong team. A point is fair for everybody.”

Boro are now just a couple of points above the relegation zone as there were victories elsewhere for both Crystal Palace and Swansea City.
