He had a solid game against Germany and Poland. The big Austrian kept a close eye on Podolski, who had to keep drifting in midfield and was eventually subbed – a great compliment to Pogatetz who marshalled the defence well in a brave display from Austria. At least we will get him back in one piece!

Tuncay Sanli – Turkey

I could write about their last game all day, one of the greatest European Championship games I can remember. A Turkey team, who were dead and buried, found their second wind to stun the Czechs and send them packing. This was a game that saw a superb winner from Nihat and a great display from Tuncay who unbelievably ended up in goal! The game had everything. Tuncay showed he can run all day, had some great touches and should be very proud. The reward from Turkey’s hard work is a game against Croatia, a game they can definitely win.

High Point: Pogatetz’s fine display against Germany, Tuncays defence splitting pass to set up Turkeys winner against Switzerland and seeing Tuncay pull on the keepers gloves!

Low Point: Emanuel Pogatetz’s dissent after the penalty against Croatia and his forearm smash on Srna
