Boro striker Mido has told The Sun newspaper that he is now fit and raring to go, after losing 10 kilo’s in his fitness regime.
The Egyptian hitman weighed 15st 2lb at one point last season, leading fans to question his commitment to the club and the value of him being here in the long run. After coming in for £6 million he only appeared in the number 9 shirt 16 times scoring 2 goals.
He has, however, apologised to the fans saying, ‘I`ve lost over 10 kilos and want to lose four more this month. I apologise to the fans for last season and I`m working very hard for the new season. I have not reached this level of fitness since I was at Roma.”
Although his weight was unacceptable, it has to be remembered that he picked up a bad injury before Christmas which forced him to completely rest from all activities for a number of weeks. If he stays fit, he will be like a new signing and hopefully he will show the form which excited Boro fans in his first few games for the club.

Deja vu… This happened every pre season when he was with us at spurs. Still on his day he is a real handful and I would like to see him get a season at you boys just to see what he is capable of. Mind you hopefully he wont be too much of a handful on the opening day of the season against us…
good grief, a player apologising, that is a refreshing change! will be interesting to see how he does if his fitness and attitude are right this season.
He needed to lose the weight. He looked embaressing during your cup tie against Sheff Utd on the TV last year. He made Viduka look anorexic!!!!
He may even have a chance of netting double figures next season!
