As the tournament draws closer, Boro`s Emanuel Pogatetz and Tuncay Sanli warmed up with games for their respective countries. The early signs are that Tuncay will be starting the Tournament from the bench and Pogi will be an important part of the Austria squad.

Pogi played the full 90 minutes for Austria in midweek reporting no problems which will see him ready to start the Euros. Tuncay however has not faired as well, coming on only as a 73rd minute substitute but he looked very effective when he came on suggesting that Turkey will be using him sparingly as a weapon towards the end of games.

At home, it is good to see Boro have 3 goals in the shortlist for goal of the season, when was the last time that happened? If ever!

Luke Young’s goal against Tottenham will have a good shout but I was disappointed not to see Stewart Downing’s Volley against Man City on MOTD’s goal of the season, however, we must also be in the running for performance of the season against Man City.

On the transfer front, it has gone very quiet and there are signs again this week that there will not be much activity over the coming weeks. The one clear thing is that we will be buying a midfielder and I have read this week that we are checking out a possible £8million double swoop for Wolves duo Wayne Hennessey and Michael Kightly.

I went to Wembley to watch England v USA and came away disappointed not to see an appearance from Downing or Wheater. However, I managed to get a good look at our transfer target Michael Bradley and came away with one thought: Please oh please Gareth, do not sign this guy. He didn`t hit a pass all night and was very ineffective. He is no better than what we have already.

Come on Boro!
