Skipper Rhys Williams has repeated that Middlesbrough are still targeting automatic promotion despite their recent poor run.

Boro have lost three successive league games against Leicester City, Watford and Derby County in a really dismal month for the club.

“We are bitterly disappointed not to pick up any points this month,” Williams told the Evening Gazette. “We have played quite well in a couple of those games but just haven’t taken our chances.

“We are still well placed. We’re not far off second. It’s still all to play for,” he continued. “Yes, we’ve lost a few but a couple of wins and we’ll be right back up there where we all believe we belong.”

The Teessiders revert to FA Cup action this weekend when entertaining League Two Aldershot Town in the fourth round.
