Head coach Aitor Karanka will still take the “good things” despite the heartbreak of a late defeat at Manchester United.

The visitors led through skipper Grant Leadbitter’s second-half goal but their opponents struck in rapid succession as the contest entered the final five minutes.

“When you lose it is difficult,” Karanka reflected to BBC Sport. “We have to take the good things.

“When you come here and play against Manchester United and you are winning 1-0, every team has to play at their best to beat us,” he added. “I thought we could have had at least have a point.”

Boro remain four points above the drop-zone ahead of entertaining champions Leicester City on Monday lunchtime.
