Late start for Boro

Middlesbrough are in late afternoon action when hosting Millwall in their live televised game at the Riverside on Saturday (kick-off 5.20pm).

The Teessiders are once again missing a number of players with Stuart Parnaby (hamstring), Lukas Jutkiewicz (ankle), Jonathan Woodgate (calf) and Seb Hines (knee) all ruled out.

However, Ishmael Miller and Andy Halliday should both be able to continue despite ankle knocks in the midweek draw at Burnley, while striker Scott McDonald is training again but probably won’t yet be considered following a recent back problem.

Boro will be coming up against opponents who crashed 5-1 at home to lowly Peterborough United in midweek, although their manager Tony Mowbray certainly wasn’t reading too much into that result.

“Tuesday was one of those nights when everything went against Millwall and they’ll want to come here and be resilient and put things right,” he told Boro’s official website. “They’re very physical, hardworking and they’re still doing well in the cup and looking to get into the play-offs.

“We’ll have to be at our best to beat them,” Mowbray warned. “Every team can beat every team and we have to turn the fine margins from defeats into victories.”

Millwall are hopeful Danny Shittu will return after missing a couple of games with a combination of injury and illness. Winger Chris Taylor may also be recalled following knee ligament trouble but defender Paul Robinson (groin) is unavailable.
