Striker Lukas Jutkiewicz could make a shock return for Middlesbrough at Charlton Athletic this weekend.

The 23-year-old was expected to be sidelined for around a month after hurting his knee during training three weeks ago.

But the former Coventry City marksman appears set to resume training today and could earn himself a place on the bench at The Valley. Luke Williams (hip) and Kevin Thomson (calf) may also return while Ishmael Miller, Seb Hines and Marvin Emnes are unlikely to be involved.

“If Lukas gets through the next couple of days without a problem he may make the bench at Charlton and could possibly play at Forest on Tuesday night,” manager Tony Mowbray told the Evening Gazette. “We’ll try to get him up to speed as quickly as possible.”

Meanwhile, Boro’s Championship clash at Leicester City has been moved to Friday 18th January for live SkyTV coverage.
