The sulky and rather rounded striker has given up on Middlesbrough to pursue a season of football in his home country.

Zamalek have taken on the 26-year-old on loan for a season with a view to a permanent deal next summer.

A fee for the Egyptian is yet to be confirmed as there are rumours it could be an initial fee of half a million rising after appearances, but other reports suggest it is an incredible £4million which would rise by a £1million by this time next year.

Mido, who has been on the payroll at seven different clubs in as many years is heading back home as part of yet another loan deal.

This will be the third time a club has loaned out the Egyptian. Roma, Middlesbrough and Ajax all having enough of his off the pitch activities.

There is no doubting that when he applies himself in the appropriate ways he is a talented footballer, but it seems that the journeyman of football is not happy in one place.

As a ManCity fan I say “there but for the grace of God”. And to think I was actually quite annoyed at Martin Jol when he pulled out of selling Mido to us at the last minute!
