Former Leeds United assistant boss Pep Clotet won’t be joining Garry Monk at Middlesbrough.

His future has remained in doubt after Monk’s sudden departure from Elland Road only last month.

Leeds have since appointed ex-APOEL supremo Thomas Christiansen in charge and he’s already named Spaniard Julio Banuelos as his assistant.

“It’s been over three amazing years working alongside my friend Garry Monk but it’s now time for me to move on and look for a new stage in my career,” Clotet admitted to the Yorkshire Evening Post. “I’m grateful to Garry for everything and I wish him all the best, because he truly deserves it.”

However, James Beattie (first-team coach) and Darryl Flahavan (goalkeeper coach) are still expected to switch to the Riverside.
