Record-buy Britt Assombalonga admitted it was a relief to get off-the-mark for Middlesbrough.
The 24-year-old recent £15m recruit from Nottingham Forest struck both goals during the midweek triumph over Burton Albion at the Riverside.
“It’s a weight off my shoulders,” Assombalonga told BBC Tees. “But I was never concerned as I have ability, it never played on my mind.”
Meanwhile, Assombalonga was expecting a warm reception at his former club when returning to the City Ground this weekend.
“It won’t be a pleasant one,” he added. “I had a move to another Championship club. It’s a love-hate relationship. We’ll see what happens.”
