Riverside Dream Team Gaffer Decided

The final piece of the jigsaw has been put in place after the manager for the Riverside Dream Team was voted in.

Having only 3 managers since we moved into the Riverside, it was only a small number to choose from but the winner got almost half the votes.

Steve McClaren came 3rd in the poll with 25% despite winning the club its first ever major piece of silverware and leading the club to a European final. But, his negative tactics did not instill excitement into the Boro crowd.

With 25% of the votes, and 2nd in the poll came Bryan Robson. ‘Robbo’ had an up and down time at Boro, being losing finalists in 3 domestic trophy finals and being relegated from the Premiership – only to be promoted back again. He also pulled off some great buys when bringing in the likes of Juninho and Ravenelli.

But, 1st is current boss Gareth Southgate. Southgate has brought new ides to the club with the squad he has so far assembled having plenty of pace, flair and also youth. He has steadily got rid of the ‘dead wood’ – the likes of Mendieta being shown the door. He has pulled off some masterstrokes; putting Arca in midfield, bringing Alves into the team slowly, bringing Aliadiere in etc. etc. The future looks bright under our former skipper and Boro fans are certainly excited about the way the club is going.

So, the Riverside Dream team is complete…and here it is:

1. Mark Schwarzer (1997-2008)

2. Luke Young (2007-present)

I think looking back over the years gareth is the only manager that has got a young team, playing attacking football and got big signings in. I think he is a great manager and if he doesnt get into the top 10 i still believer he can do great things.
