Middlesbrough full-back Justin Hoyte admitted his side face “eight cup finals” between now and the end of the season.

Five points currently separate ninth-placed Boro from the play-offs following a dismal run of ten defeats in their last thirteen league games.

However, Hoyte was keeping faith that his side can halt their recent decline and reverse fortunes over the final weeks of the campaign.

“It’s eight cup finals,” he admitted to the Evening Gazette. “It’s eight very tough games – but we believe we can do it. We all believe we can win enough of those remaining matches to force our way back into the play-off places.

“This season ain’t over, no way. There’s a long way to go yet and we haven’t given up,” Hoyte continued. “Yes, we have had a nightmare run of form. But we also know how quickly everything can change in this crazy division. We haven’t given up. There’s a lot of mileage in this season yet.”
