Middlesbrough boss Tony Mowbray has stated his players mustn’t dwell on their woeful league form since the turn of the year if there is to be any chance of reigniting their fading promotion bid.

Boro have lost their last three fixtures and won just twice in thirteen games in 2013, which in turn currently has them trailing down in ninth in the table after being in a play-off place for most of the campaign.

“We can’t feel sorry for ourselves,” Mowbray told BBC Tees. “It’s a tough time for us all at the moment but we have to keep going and keep believing.

“It’s a time for getting back to work and understand the only way to get out of the run we’re in is to get our nose to the grind(stone),” he added. “We have to work hard, in the first half of the season with plenty of grass and nice pitches, [we had] lots of confidence, but it’s a different feel at the moment.”
