Head coach Aitor Karanka was understandably frustrated after conceding a late winner at Burnley.
The Teessiders went down to a single-goal defeat when Andre Gray’s shot escaped former Barcelona and Manchester United goalkeeper Victor Valdes with just ten minutes remaining.
“It was a game completely under control,” Karanka told BB Sport. “It is frustrating. We had chances and we could have prevented their goal.
“They had a lot of long balls and we knew that this was the only way they could score,’ he added. ‘We must learn.”
Despite being overtaken in the table by their latest opponents, Boro stay four points above the relegation zone with the remaining sides below them failing to win.
