Middlesbrough aren’t in action until Sunday when travelling to meet West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns (kick-off 1.30pm).

The visitors are without left-back pair George Friend (calf) and Fabio (knee) following their midweek League Cup defeat at Fulham, which could see Antonio Barragan switching across and Daniel Ayala returning in the middle of defence.

Recent signing Bernardo Espinosa is also available but goalkeeper Victor Valdes and midfielder Marten de Roon both miss out with hamstring problems.

Skipper Grant Leadbitter (hernia surgery) and a third left-back, James Husband (dislocated shoulder), remain sidelined.

The Baggies also have doubts over a full-back with Brendan Galloway currently struggling with a hamstring injury, which could witness sixteen-year-old Kane Wilson making his Premier League debut.

Forward Chris Brunt is definitely unavailable because of a knee injury.
