Middlesbrough rock David Wheater has set his sights for next season, hoping to impress Fabio Capello and Boro fans alike.

The 21-year-old broke into the Boro fold last season and told the clubs official website ‘There are the World Cup qualifiers coming up and I would really love to be in the next England squad’

But to the delight of Boro fans he confirmed he remained focused on his performances for his club side saying ‘I need to perform well for Middlesbrough. that’s my priority’

If Wheater can continue to improve and represent Boro in the way he did last season it’s clear that Middlesbrough will have one of the countries brightest young defensive prospects representing them in many future England Internationals.

Welcome Alex! Wheater will be in the England squad for sure if he stays injury free next season.
