Middlesbrough winger Mustapha Carayol has vowed to come back stronger after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury in his left knee.
The 23-year-old fell awkwardly during the weekend scoreless draw at Bournemouth and is to undergo surgery in a fortnight’s time.
Carayol now has the prospect of up to six months on the sidelines and faces a race to be fit for next season.
“Not the way I had imagined my season to end – but I’ll be back stronger,” he posted on social network site Twitter.
