Afonso Alves who has had a horrid time on Teesside since joining us in January 2008 is on the verge of leaving for the Middle-East.
The Brazilian joined us for a record transfer of £12.5million pounds from Dutch outfit Heerenveen, but never settled well playing in the Premier League.
Now we are in the Championship and in need of money we are desperate to sell the striker and will welcome any bids that come our way even if it means taking a 50% cut on what we paid for him just 18 months ago.
Qatar club Al Sadd are apparently willing to splash £7million on our Brazilian flop, which is amazing considering the striker has only scored 10 goals in 42 appearances for us.
The debate on whether Alves was harshly treated on Teesside by management will continue for years to come, but at least he will be joining a club where he will be able to play week in week out.
Good luck to him. It Al’ be a Sadd’ day when he leaves. See what I did there!

£7m for Alves makes me even more angry at the Tuncay deal!
Tuncay was FREE fella, we still made a profit of £5.5million on him, can understand if we paid £15million for him but we we didn’t…
Free or not he still went for way under £11 million both players is poor.
never quite made it did he!
juvenile d, you need to remove the “quite” from that sentence. i reckon a bag of spuds would have been able to have more presence in the final third.
