Middlesbrough’s final league game of the season has them visiting relegation-threatened Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday afternoon (kick-off 12.45pm).

Boro are set to welcome back centre-back Jonathan Woodgate from suspension while midfielder Merouane Zemmama (ankle) and striker Lukas Jutkiewicz (knee) require late checks.

Otherwise, defenders George Friend (hamstring) and Seb Hines (knee) continue to miss out.

“Our main responsibility is to our own supporters and to hopefully give them a day they can enjoy,” manager Tony Mowbray told Boro’s official website. “With 1,500 Boro fans going, we have a responsibility to perform.

“We’ll go to Sheffield and try to win a football match regardless of their plight,” he added. “If there’s a big atmosphere it should help the players’ adrenaline and concentration levels and hopefully we can get a result.”

The Owls must win to definitely confirm their Championship survival and are hoping that defender Reda Johnson (foot) and winger Jermaine Johnson (hamstring) recover in time to aid their cause.
