Middlesbrough defender Seb Hines came through a private friendly with Sheffield United at Rockliffe Park.

The 25-year-old has been unavailable since undergoing knee surgery in April. But he appeared for an hour as Bradley Fewster claimed both Boro goals in a 2-2 draw.

Hines could come into contention for the weekend trip to Ipswich Town, although manager Tony Mowbray already has Ben Gibson as cover for Jonathan Woodgate and Rhys Williams.

Mowbray may instead decide to hold him back for the midweek clash with Nottingham Forest.
