Middlesbrough’s final home game of the season heralds the arrival of play-off outsiders Charlton Athletic to the Riverside.
Boro will be without former England centre-back Jonathan Woodgate following his sending-off at Bolton Wanderers last week.
Fellow defender George Friend (hamstring) also remains on the sidelines alongside Emmanuel Ledesma (ankle), while Seb Hines (knee) now joins them after being ruled out for around four months. Otherwise, Merouane Zemmama (ankle) and Lukas Jutkiewicz (knee) require late checks.
“Charlton have shown they are a decent side,” manager Tony Mowbray told Boro’s official website. “It took them a bit of time to acclimatise to the league after being promoted last year, but they’ve obviously found their feet.
“They’re finishing the season strongly,” he continued. “We know it’s a tough game as they have a slim chance of getting in the play-offs so they’ll want the three points. Hopefully we can score a few goals and send the fans away with a bit of hope.”
Addicks skipper Johnnie Jackson should recover from the knock received during their latest success against Wolverhampton Wanderers while midfielder Andy Hughes was similarly expected to continue.
